COMMUNITIES

YOU'LL FIND A COMMUNITY WAITING FOR YOU IN DALLAS

Since 1869, when Chinese railroad workers first arrived in the area, the Asian American community has been a consistently growing influence. Dallas' entrepreneurial spirit has imbued Dallas with its own unique character that cannot be found elsewhere.

You're invited to experience that character with our collection of Asian arts, dining, festivals, exciting cultural performances, and unique and important exhibits. It's your chance to experience life here where you'll find over 16 Asian nationalities and almost a half-million Asian Americans.

There's DFW Chinatown, home to authentic Chinese food and shopping opportunities. The fast-growing Asian Trade District, where you'll find 21 shopping centers and over 300 stores and restaurants.

The City of Garland's thriving Asian American community is centered around the Jupiter Road and Walnut Road area. Little India, located at the intersection of I-75 and Beltline Road, is filled with food markets, gold and sari stores, video stores and shopping. Little Pakistan, on Trinity Mills in the City of Carrollton, features the Al Markaz and IndoPak Plaza, offering restaurants, markets, jewelry, and financial institutions.

You'll find a growing Asian American community in the downtown area of Dallas, easily accessible by the DART rail system or the McKinney Avenue Trolley. There are large communities in the Uptown district and the Peak/Bryan area. Even more neighborhoods can be found in surrounding communities like Plano, Arlington and Mesquite.

Dallas is rich in Asian culture and you're invited to visit and become a part of it during your stay. We want you to feel you're a part of the community. And we want you to experience and enjoy all that Dallas has to offer you!
