BUSINESS

Economic Development

The entrepreneurial spirit is alive and growing in Dallas, as signified by the increasing Asian American presence in the financial community. There are a number of Asian American owned banks in the Dallas Area: One World Bank, Metro Bank, First American National Bank, First Texas National Bank, The State Bank of Texas, Nizari Progressive Federal Credit Union, United Central Bank and Wilshire State Bank.

And no where does the entrepreneurial spirit present it self more than in the many Asian America communities scattered throughout the Dallas area. These areas include the Asian Trade District, DFW Chinatown, Little India and Little Pakistan.

Dallas is also home to the Greater Dallas Asian American Chamber of Commerce (GDAACC), the largest Asian American Chamber in the United States. Since it's establishment in 1986, its membership has grown to over 1,000 members.

Elected Officials

Asian Americans in the Dallas area are becoming involved in politics. Joe Chow is the current mayor of The Town of Addison, a suburb of Dallas.

Dallas Convention Center

One of the premier convention sites in the nation, the Dallas Convention Center has over 1,000,000 square feet available. It offers over 600,000 square feet of prime, contiguous exhibit space along with a 203,000-square-foot column-free exhibit hall, the largest in the United States.

Plus, the Dallas Convention Center offers even more great features, like a 9,816-seat arena, a theater with a 1,740-person capacity and 105 meeting rooms.
